"But how can a man be in the right before God?" - Job 9:2

God is holy, righteous, and just, and you deserve His wrath, not His mercy.

The Bible tells us that we are born sinners. We sin because we are by nature sinners. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” The Bible also assures us that because we are sinners, we will spend eternity in hell enduring the wrath of God as payment for our sin when we die. “For the wages of sin is death.”

Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23

But God...

“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” It is only through the death of Jesus on the cross and His atonement for our sins that we can have peace with God. “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.”

Romans 5:6-11

What must I do to be saved?

Paul told the Philippian jailer to, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.” To believe in the Lord Jesus is to believe that He is Lord, that He is God, that He died, was buried, was raised on the third day, and that He is the only way to have peace with God. If Jesus is Lord then we must humble ourselves before Him. This is what repentance is. It is humbly recognizing our sin, turning from it, and turning to obey Jesus our Savior and Lord who bought us with His blood.

Acts 16:30-32

What if I don’t repent and believe?

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” We see that to believe in Jesus is to obey Him. There is salvation in no other name under heaven. Repent of your sin, believe in the Lord Jesus, and be saved today.
